Camp Good Hope offers grief support to young people who have experienced a loss. Campers participate in various group sessions with a social worker who teaches them to understand the loss they have experienced so they can begin the process of healing. Group modalities include art therapy, drama, and one on one discussion.
Campers enjoy horseback riding, canoeing, fun games and arts and crafts all designed with a therapeutic purpose. Every camper receives a custom T-shirt, backpack and other camp accessories. Camp concludes with a memorial service.
Kamp Time at Your School program provides a way for children to participate in a camp-style group setting at their school, which provides a safe place to share feelings and talk openly about their loss. Grief specialists partner with school personnel and parents to provide grief support to children and teens who have experienced the loss of a loved one. Therapies include art, play, music, drama and one-on-one discussion.
Upon “graduation” from the camp, children receive a T-shirt, camp accessories and a certificate of completion.
Herry’s Kids, Camp Good Hope, Teen Encounter and Kamp Tyme are supported through community donations, corporate sponsorships and grants.
